ABOUT GBAJPB

Two local government units - City of Bemidji and Northern Township -  make up the 51 square miles served by the Greater Bemidji Area Joint Planning Board. Since its formation in 2007, the GBAJPB has provided planning and zoning, permits for land use, septic, signage and tree preservation, as well as a forum to evaluate variance requests.

Staff is directed by the Joint Planning Board which considers recommendations from the Joint Planning Commission. Ultimately, the guiding force is the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance. Ordinances are researched and updated on an annual basis, and include opportunities for public participation.
